Does anyone have a good recipe for BBQ Pork that is used a lot in soups etc.
It has a red colour tinge around the edge. Is this done with food colouring
??

It's a combination of hoisin sauce, which gives a dark reddish brown
color and good old red food coloring. A couple of drops in the
marinade mixture.

I think that traditionally the pork gets a little red around the edges
but nowadays food coloring is added to make sure that it's bright red.

As for recipe, do a search for 'char sui'/chinese bbq pork. Alternatively
you can get the marinade prebottled at an asia mart (say, lee kum
kee brand). Marinade some pork shoulder butt, roast and slice.

good luck!
